Auditions are by appointment only - please phone Judy on 0408 563 504 (please leave a clear message on the answering machine with your full name, age and phone number).
Singing/vocal auditions will be held in the Altona Theatre, 115 Civic Parade Altona 3018 (Melways ref: 54, H10). Please enter via the stage door at the rear of the theatre for auditions. Venue for the dance workshop is TBC - auditionees will be advised at the singing/vocal audition
Audition Requirements
| Music | You must prepare two contrasting songs in the style of the show which highlight your vocal ability and range (and your ability to perform!). Please bring sheet music in the key you wish to sing it in - the accompanist will not do any transposition. Backing tracks/CDs will not be allowed. |
| Dance | All auditionees will be required to attend a dance workshop - please wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear! Please wear runners or jazz ballet shoes/boots. No thongs, high heels, open toe or slip on shoes are allowed to be worn at the dance audition. Please aim to be warmed up and ready to go at the call time. The routine will incorporate many styles of the 1940s. |
| Fees (if successful) | You will need to become a financial member of the company ($30 family, $20 single, $10 concession). |
Performances will be held between 3rd and 18th October 2008. There may be a regional tour of the show the weekend after it closes (25th October).

Katisha |
Nanki Poo's spurned older suitor. Loud, intimidating and vampish. Alto E2-B4 |
Mikado |
The leader of Japan, who strikes fear into all of its citizens. Nanki Poo's father. Must be able to tap dance. Tenor C3-G4 |
Ko Ko |
A former tailor, who now holds the rank of Lord High Executioner of Titipu. Betrothed to Yum Yum. Small & meek. Good comic timing required. Tenor Bb/A#2-Eb/D#4 |
Pooh Bah |
Lord High "everything else". Very smart, selfish and manipulative. Tenor A2-EbD#4 |
Pish Tush |
Poo Bah's lap dog. Energetic character who loves attention. Tenor G3-B4 |
Pitti Sing |
Yum Yum's sister and leader of the Three Little Maids. Smart, mature and feisty. Belt Eb/D#3-D5 |
Peep Bo |
Yum Yum's sister and youngest of the Three Little Maids. Not so bright, but adorable. Alto B2-D5 |
Ladies & Gentlemen of Japan |
Active chorus roles with various vocal ranges. Looking for great voices and dance abilities. There are also 2 male and 2 female "dancer only" roles in the show. |
