ACT Announces February 2011 Production

Avenue QWinner of the 2004 Tony for “Best Musical”, winner of the 2008 Helen Hayes award for “Outstanding Non-Resident Production”, winner of the 2005 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for “Best Puppet Design”, and winner of the 2008 Israeli Theatre Awards “Best Entertainment Show”, Altona City Theatre are now pleased to say that “Avenue Q” will be coming to the western suburbs of Melbourne in 2011!

“Avenue Q”, with music and lyrics written by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, and book written by Jeff Whitty, is a musical about the issues and anxieties associated with entering adulthood. While the issues may be serious, they are dealt with using satire, humour and unashamed naughtiness… oh, and did we mention with puppets?

With such recognizable songs such as “It Sucks to Be Me”, “Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist”, “Schadenfreude” and “The Internet is For Porn”, “Avenue Q” doesn’t just cross the line, it marches straight over it and leaves it at the door, all in the search for laughs, shocks, and trying to find meaning and purpose in life.

“Avenue Q” will be staged at Altona City Theatre in February 2011, and we are now taking expressions of interest for the production team. If you are interested in being involved in putting on this one of a kind musical, then please email James Morgan at president@altonacitytheatre.com.au
