Audition Requirements

This production has a minimum age of 8 years for all cast members.

Vocal:

You will be required to prepare one song in the style of the show (pop/rock). Please consider the style of the show and the character(s) you are auditioning for when choosing a song – it should be fun and show your vocal range!
CD/Mobile Phone backing tracks are allowed and encouraged – we’ll have a CD player / “AUX Cord” you can use. Please ensure that you use a track with no (lead) vocals – recordings with vocals will not be accepted. Alternatively, you can bring sheet music and our multi-talented piano player will play it for you. The sheet music must be in the desired key (we will not transpose), and please write in any slight edits you may need.
Please note that a’capella singing will not be accepted.

Acting:

At the audition you may be given some script excerpts to read. Of course, acting is not just something you do with words, your acting during the singing will also be considered!

Dancing:

A compulsory dance call will be held on Sunday 13th January at the Altona Theatre. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear (no open toe shoes are allowed on stage).

Lastly:

Don’t be nervous – we will try and make the process as enjoyable as possible.

Relax. Enjoy. Don’t worry if you mess up – we want to see what you CAN do, and we will conveniently ignore any mistakes you make.
PS Learn your song off by heart! Extra points are always awarded for people who are prepared! :)
