Altona City Theatre is proud to announce auditions for our upcoming July production of Bonnie & Clyde, which will be performed over three weeks from Friday July 3rd to Saturday July 18th 2026
Synopsis:
At the height of the Great Depression, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow went from two small-town nobodies in West Texas to America’s most renowned folk heroes and Texas law enforcement’s worst nightmares. Fearless, shameless and alluring, the Tony-nominated Bonnie & Clyde, is the electrifying story of love, adventure and crime that captured the attention of an entire country.
When Bonnie and Clyde meet, their mutual cravings for excitement and fame immediately set them on a mission to chase their dreams. Their bold and reckless behavior turns the young lovers’ thrilling adventure into a downward spiral, putting themselves and their loved ones in trouble with the law. Forced to stay on the run, the lovers resort to robbery and murder to survive. As the infamous duo’s fame grows bigger, their inevitable end draws nearer.
Director’s Note:
Bonnie & Clyde is a bold, electrifying story about ambition, love, rebellion, and the cost of chasing a dream. My vision for this production is to create a fast-paced, emotionally charged retelling that feels raw, human, and alive, a show that makes audiences laugh, root for these characters, and ultimately feel the tragedy of their downfall.
At the heart of this production is storytelling. Whether through acting, singing, or movement, I am looking for performers who are committed to truthful character work and who understand that every moment on stage contributes to the world of the show. This is an ensemble-driven production where every performer plays a vital role in bringing 1930s Texas to life.
Unlike most productions of this show, this will be a dance heavy version. Movement will play an important role in shaping the energy and pacing of this production. We are seeking passionate, hardworking dancers who have a genuine love for their craft and a strong ability to tell stories through movement. The choreography will be detailed and expressive, with opportunities for partner work and lifts (experience is a bonus but not essential). Most importantly, we are looking for dancers who perform with intention, character, and emotional connection and performers who can captivate an audience and work collaboratively as part of a supportive and respectful ensemble.
I aim to foster a rehearsal room built on collaboration, respect, and creativity, and make the rehearsal room a space where performers feel safe to take risks, explore bold choices, and support one another. Alongside our creative team, we will work together to create dynamic staging, blocking and bold choices that enhances storytelling and keeps the production visually and emotionally engaging.
We encourage performers of all experience levels and backgrounds to audition. Passion, commitment, kindness, and a willingness to work collaboratively to bring this story to life are just as important as technical skill.
This production also requires the casting of two children to portray Young Bonnie and Young Clyde.
If you are excited by powerful storytelling, strong ensemble work, and the opportunity to create something thrilling, new and raw together, I cannot wait to see you in the room.
